▶ What items are most needed right now?
Currently we need new undergarments and socks, winter coats and warm clothing, professional attire for job interviews, hygiene kits, and storage totes. Visit our Donate page to see the full list of most needed items, which is updated regularly based on community requests.
▶ Do you pick up donations?
Yes, we offer pickup service for small donations. Call us at (773) 643-0406 or email info@donationstations.us to schedule a pickup. For larger donations, you can drop them off at Communities In Action , 5303 S. Woodlawn, Chicago, IL 60615.
▶ Can I get a receipt?
Yes, we provide donation receipts for tax purposes. Please request a receipt when you drop off or schedule your pickup, and we will email it to you within 72 hours.
▶ Do you take furniture?
We accept small furniture items only, such as chairs, small tables, and storage units. Please call ahead at (773) 643-0406 to confirm we have space and that your item meets our current needs. We cannot accept large furniture like sofas or bed frames.
▶ Who can request support?
Everyone. We serve anyone who needs support, regardless of circumstances. There are no eligibility requirements, income limits, or documentation needed. If you need help, you deserve help.
▶ How quickly can I get help?
We respond to urgent requests within 6 hours and standard requests within 24 hours. Once we match your request with available items, you can typically receive your items within 1-3 days, depending on your availability and preference for pickup or delivery.
▶ Do you accept opened items?
It depends on the item. We accept opened personal care products that are still in good condition (like partially used shampoo bottles), but we cannot accept opened food items or used undergarments. When in doubt, contact us at donationstationhp@gmail.com to ask about a specific item.
▶ Can I volunteer just once?
Absolutely. We welcome one-time volunteers for special events, seasonal needs, and specific projects. You can also volunteer on a flexible schedule that works for you. Visit our Volunteer page to see current opportunities and sign up.
